![]() The self-indulgent, unforgiving nature of his mother and boss only increase sympathy for him. His character is rather sympathetic, a product of others’ restraints and subjugation. His grudgingly feeble persona is ideal for this role. ![]() Screenwriter Glen Morgan, an alleged Hitchcock fanatic, seeks to recreate a tense, classic thriller and Glover is certainly the appropriate man for the lead. Willard’s acts progress from petty vandalism, and upon his mother’s death – which was because of a heart attack caused by an encounter with the rats – and his subsequent findings that his boss is in fact trying to swindle his money and the family home, Willard targets Martin. Upon discovering his personal connection with the rats, Willard begins to train them, developing minions for his own personal acts of vengeance, the first of which is an attack on Martin’s house. Intrigued by his first rodent companion, Willard returns to the basement where he finds hundreds of Socrates’ cohorts, all with which he has an especially good rapport. ![]() He takes in the captured rat as a pet of sorts and names him Socrates, with respect to his intelligence. Upon finally catching one of the rats, however, Willard becomes especially sympathetic towards the basement dwellers. Willard blankets the lower level of their dilapidated house with mouse traps, hoping to rid their home of the vermin. Lee Ermey -Willard has no sound personal relationships and lives a life of despair and ever-mounting angst, that is, until his mother sends him to their basement to investigate a potential rodent problem. Hahaha.ĭude, I had the same type iof thing happen to me before too.A retelling of the story that spawned a 1971 film of the same name, “Willard” takes viewers through the absolutely pathetic life of Willard Stiles, a feeble middle-aged man who works at his dead father’s company and lives with his overbearing, slowly decaying mother.įacing constant belittling from his mother and his boss, Frank Martin, – played fiercely but somewhat humorously by “Full Metal Jacket” Drill Sergeant R. As you can imagine, they were okay with us dating after that. But, someone that we knew in the crowd recorded it and sent it to her parents. HEY YOU!!! YEAH YOU ASS CHIN!!! IF I SEE YOU MAKE A SINGLE MORE MOVE TOWARD MY GIRLFRIEND, I WILL HIT YOU OVER THE HEAD WITH THIS 8 POUND PEICE OF WOOD UNTIL EVEN THE STRINGS ARE BROKEN!!! GOT IT!?!?!?" The dude gave me this look as if I had just pulled my pants down and was doing a windmill with my. So being the protective dude I am, I run up to the mic and say, "Scuse me Jay (OUR SINGER), lemme see this for a sec. As I was on stage with the band introducing our next song, I see this turd walk up to my girlfriend with two drinks. Her parents barely let her go to the show in the first place, so I was on "jail warden style" watch over her. At that point, I had been dating my, very shy and very pretty, girlfriend for about a week. It just kills the whole vibe for everyone.Īny similar experiences, or are they all of the "girlfriend gets angry at other girls" variety?Ĭlick to expand.Dude, I had the same type iof thing happen to me before too.īack in December, I played a show at The Metro in Chicago. One venue we used to play was particularly bad, and there would be packs of guys that would come in and actually get physical, trying to drag the girls out onto the dance floors, and the girls would actually have to work in teams to deter these guys. It's a pretty helpless feeling, standing up there watching strange men trying to convince your best girl to go home with them, and you can either disrupt the show to scare them off, knowing full-well there will be other dbags in line right behind them, or you just don't come to the defense of your special someone and trust her to understand. What I don't hear discussed as often is a problem me and by bandmates had quite a bit - watching other guys in the crowd hit on our girlfriends while we were mid-set. I have played in cover and original bands for 15 years or so, and musicians seem to complain a lot about having girls in the crowd hit on them during performances, particularly while loved ones in the audience watch in anger.
